The Wonder Ambulance of PFA-PAWS created it's own history!
5 min of pure challenge and success!!!
PAWS 08/01/21: The day shall be marked in the history of PAWS as another bright example of PAWS exceeding the expectations of clients.
It is also once again proved that spending Rs. 2.41 Lacs of money provided by Smt. Maneka Gandhi in building a multipurpose and custom engineered body over a simple Bolero pickup truck that also she had paid for has been effective investment. It's also proved to be a long haul vehicle that ran on this day for 18 hrs and 375 km.
Bholenath is a Jersey Bull of more than 500 kg and 3 years of age. He was ill and getting insufficient medical treatment at a village farther away from Palashi in Murshidabad District located 140 km away from Barasat where PAWS is based.
XXX is a big hearted lady who paid all costs to have him shifted through 166 km to her house at Kolkata to have him treated back to health at his birthplace where his cow mother was still living.
Thus came the earnest request and challenge that PAWS took up with meticulous planning, because failing to plan is like planning to fail.
With near to zero experience of handling cattle or transporting them, all the knowledge picked up from Dr. Shreeparna Ghosal through last 4 years came in very handy. Plus she was also available on phone when the activity ran into trouble in an unforeseen manner. Credits are always more when emergency situations are faced with cool heads rather than completing without hassles.
Bholenath was originally ill and loaded on ambulance with a bloated belly full of gas. Little did we know that such a huge animal could fall flat with motion sickness and send us into a tizzy about how to bring him home safely and unload a bull who had suddenly lost the capacity to stand.
With PAWS Movement Control Room run by Prasenjit Dutta and his son Shuvodeep Dutta on the ambulance being an equal novice about cattle, the movement completed successfully at midnight after having started at 7 am from Barasat. The rest of the story, the complete story is told in the movie.
Special thanks to:
First and foremost, our Lord Pashupatinath for his Divine Blessings that caused success in a mission of cattle transport that had been a dream for PAWS but never attempted before.
1) Prof. Dr. Shreeparna Ghosal, member of Dhyan Foundation at Kolkata for her learned guidance on cattle handling and caution points.
2) Mr. Sudarshan Kaushik of Dhyan Foundation at Delhi for his final advice on the supposed condition of the bull.
3) Sh. Rajesh Yadav of Surabhisadan Gosala (Rajasthan Gosala) of Barasat for his prompt action of providing cow paravets at 30 min notice at one phone call from PAWS Control Room.
4) PAWS Volunteer Shuvodeep Dutta, S/O. Prasenjit Dutta of PAWS who sacrificed one salary earning day to act as the Movement Supervisor and for keeping his head firmly on his shoulders during crisis.
5) M/s. General Coach Works of Dover Terrace, Ballygunje, for their innovative construction of the ambulance body that was the brainchild of PAWS.
6) Last but not least, Shabir Ali, PAWS driver who has been a solid support to Shuvodeep and drove 375 km in 18 hrs and has shown that an ambulance can literally fly!
To keep PAWS equipped, ready and capable for urgent needs of animals, donations to PAWS may be paid through account details information at https://pawsrescue.in/donate/ -
Indian Stutt Hounds!
Look at these Indian Stutt Hounds on the streets of Barasat!
They are two free roaming siblings fed at a house in the locality. They are fully grown, but couldn't grow to more that 12 inches in height.
In Germany they would have been called Dachshund. But in Bengal they are Neri Kutta! -
3:08 min of pure blessings.

PAWS, 07/01/21: 3-08 min of pure blessings!
In these days when we're conserving food and medicines for the shelter dogs by stopping new admissions, Priya Das of Sichuan Nagar, Taki Road, Barasat came with a relief for one day.
She celebrated her birthday at shelter and dedicated one day's meal for all dogs to the fond memory of her dear departed pet 'Guddu'.
Donation Received: Rs.2000/- for sponsoring a full day's meal.
On behalf of all the PAWS dogs and cats, we pray for the ultimate shelter of her departed pet in the arms of Lord Pashupatinath and His Divine Blessings be upon Priya and all her family. -

PAWS Adoption Success Review!
Our Choco Boy is an Indian Choco Hound and he's a Bangalorean now. Mom and dad Anwesha Majumdar and Tias Chakrabarty had adopted him at 14 months of age on a happy Christmas Day 2 years back as a wedding gift the couple wanted to give each other.
All PAWS adult dogs are trained for tolerance because they learn to share their space with many others. On top of that when they get parents like this beautiful couple, their lives get transformed with a sense of reassuring safety that they have provided him. They have accustomed him to human company, company of other dogs as well as long solitude during hours when both remain at work.
In all our experience, novice people who are first time pet owners are the best learners of what a pet needs and this couple has reconfirmed our realization. They have taken a lot of hints from PAWS and they've improvised so much on their own that they can now practically write a book on pet dog behaviour. -
To be or not to be!
https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2580687012228618&id=1490798644550799
To be or not to be, it depends on what Kolkata wants.
If 7,500 people liking PAWS Page had donated Rs. 10 each per month, we would have had the money to spend on regular running costs of the shelter. Then we wouldn't have needed to beg for developmental works to expand the Kennels.
Animals North of Central Kolkata have no option but PAWS as it seems now. We're flooded with admission requests, but failing to accommodate all. We had to regret 5 cases today for critically wounded dogs. We don't have room for more than 60 dogs in this harsh winter this year, and we're full.
Kolkata to decide:
1) Whether these 8 half finished Kennels would be used for drying clothes just because PAWS ran out of funds.
2) Whether they would be used for accommodating 32 more dogs.
3) Whether we should continue to regret 5 treatment cases per day.
4) Whether we should be able to accommodate 20 sterilization cases per week.
5) Whether some animal lovers should form another well funded NGO to create a treatment shelter for areas between Bowbazar and Malda.
6) Whether animal lovers should help the only existing treatment shelter between Bowbazar and Malda, that's PAWS and avoid crying for dogs dying in front of their eyes.
PAWS is short of Rs. 54,000, that's the cost to complete 16 new Kennels, plus the already existing market loan with supplier and contractor to the tune of Rs. 67,000.
To help PAWS create additional Kennel space, there is a scheme that can be read through the Previous Post link below.
Payments/ Donation to PAWS can be done in 5 ways, described at our website link https://pawsrescue.in/donate/

Grand Adoption Success Review of Sabitri!
https://www.facebook.com/483002002236990/posts/902647516939101/
Grand Adoption Success Review, 21/12/20!
The Chatterjee family took the PAWS advice seriously and on 22/06/20 they took Sabitri who was a grown up puppy of 9 months. They understood that with daughter about to go away on her first job and parents working on busy professional careers, they just couldn't give time and energy to a new born puppy. They followed PAWS advice day to day to the letter and they now have a happy family of four.
PAWS grand adoption success review!
She belongs to the 3 Idiots litter (Refer our post at https://www.facebook.com/483002002236990/posts/733477390522782/).
She was the best singer of the lot. Now she says she's a born Brahmin! Her earlier brother and sister who got adopted at 3 months of age are both Bhattacharya now. Katha Chatterjee and her mother Dalia Chatterjee made her a Chatterjee and named her Sabitri aka Sabu. She's a Bull Hound and she left behind 2 brothers, one a Bull Hound like her and the other is a Kelt Hound--both still rotting at Prison PAWS.
PAWS delivered her fully toilet trained, fully vaccinated and with warranty.
All PAWS cats/ dogs come with a lifetime service warranty at reasonable cost for behavioural training guidance, creche accommodation for holidays, Vaccine and treatment advice.
Note: The warranty is only applicable to pets adopted from the custody of PAWS. -
PAWS shelter tour this winter, 19/12/20.
19/12/20: Nearly 8 min of video tour of PAWS shelter.
This is for the mentors of the dogs presently admitted to show the winter protections taken at PAWS shelter.
Wooden cots for dogs have been purchased to save them from the chill of Barasat that's 5 Deg lower than Kolkata. Already 32 have been purchased @ Rs. 400 each.
Another 15 are ready at carpenter's shop, but we can't spend that money until there is help from the public. ONLY Rs. 23K in account as against Rs. 2.5 Lacs of shelter expenses per month.
Another 33 cots required at least so that we can again shelter 100+ dogs. But we don't have the money.
